Wings Over Whales will actively promote safety objectives, not only in the operation of aircraft, but also through maintenance practices, training and other allied functions. The safe and efficient transportation of passengers and cargo is our primary objective. Accident and incident prevention is our goal. It is our duty to integrate safety management systems into all flight operations so that our objectives and goals are achieved.
All flight activities adhere to Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand legislation.
Environmental and Sustainability Policy
All commercial activities involving the taking of passengers to view or swim with marine mammals in New Zealand must have Department of Conservation permits. These permits are issued under the Marine Mammals Protection Regulations 1992 and determine the number of trips per day permissible, the times and duration of tours and the particular marine mammal species allowed to be viewed. Wings Over Whales NZ Limited have been issued with an approved Marine Mammal Permit and are committed to protecting the natural environment of our wildlife.
In addition to minimising our impact on marine life and to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and local community, we are implementing the Qualmark Responsible Tourism Standard and are currently awarded with the Enviro-Silver award.
Wings Over Whales seek to analyse their performance and make yearly improvements in the following key areas:
- Energy efficiency
- Waste management
- Water conservation
- Use of eco-friendly products
Wings Over Whales actively support local business and community initiatives, placing value on the cohesion and synergy of both Kaikoura and New Zealand.
This environmental and social sustainability policy has been adopted and promoted at the highest managerial level in Wings Over Whales NZ Ltd. It is also our policy to communicate its aims to the operation’s stakeholders, employees, customers and suppliers of products and services.
