Flights are subject to weather conditions, and minimum numbers. In the event of a cancellation by Wings Over Whales, the team will work with you to reschedule your flight for another day, or provide a full refund.
To make a change to your flight time, you are required to contact our friendly team at least 48hrs in advance and we will reschedule your flight/tour at no cost. No refund will be given for no-shows or changes you make to your booking less than 24 hours prior to departure.
Advance reservations are recommended particularly during the months of November to March, however walk-in bookings are sometimes available.
Flights are subject to minimum passenger numbers of 2 adults and our aircraft have specific weight restrictions (all passengers and/or equipment will be weighed)
Flight times and routes are subject to and may vary due to weather conditions.
Our seats have a maximum weight restriction of 135 kgs, if you have any questions or concerns please contact our team to arrange for alternatives.
We offer complimentary shuttle service, which needs to be prebooked in advance. Contact the reservations team at [email protected] to book the shuttle. Space is limited. Pick up will be 45 minutes prior to flight departure from within the Kaikoura town centre.
Transfers to/from locations outside of the town centre limits may incur an additional charge.
Parents/caregivers assume their own responsibility for car seats and child restraints for young children and infants.
Airport Terminal - Check-in is 30mins prior to schedule flight departure for a safety brieifng and information session
Due to our aircraft weight restrictions all passengers and/or equipment must be weighed during the check-in process.
Dangerous goods are not permitted in or around the aircraft, passengers will be briefed on this again during check-in.
Payment must be made in advance to secure your booking. Where payment is made by credit card and a refund applies, the amount must be refunded back to the same credit card.

No food or drink is permitted on board the aircraft, unless permitted by pilot.
All cameras/phones/etc. are brought onto the aircraft at the passengers own discretion and risk. Wings Over Whales and South Pacific Helicopters take no responsibility for items damaged during the tour.
All passengers are to conduct themselves in a manner that does not endanger any person, damage property on board the aircraft, or obstruct the crew or pilot from perfoming their duties.
Passengers are required to comply with any instructions given by the pilot, including but not limited to the restriction of no smoking, alcohol, or drug consumption whilst on board.
ON THE DAY:
There is no dress requirement, but large bags and backpacks will be assessed at check-in, subject to weight and space availability. Wings Over Whales provides lockers for larger bags and backpacks to be left in during the trip.
You are welcome to bring your camera, however all cameras/phones/etc. are brought onto the aircraft at the passengers own discretion and risk. Wings Over Whales and South Pacific Helicopters take no responsibility for items damaged during the tour.
INFANTS AND CHILDREN
Infants under the age of 2 years of age can travel free of charge IF (they can sit comfortably on an adults’ lap & weigh under 18kgs). Limited to 1 infant per journey/experience.
Children over 18kgs or over 3 years of age can fly at a discounted rate and take up their own seat. Child headsets and lifejackets will be provided by crew if needed.

Prices are quoted per person and subject to minimum numbers per tour (experience).
Flights operate every day except Christmas day.
CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
Group cancellations (min. 4 passengers) require at least 4 days, inside of 2-4 days will be subjected to a fee of 25% per group booking or per person whichever is the greater.
Cancellations made 24-48hrs prior to scheduled flight time will incur a fee of 50% per passenger.
ALL cancellations (groups/individuals) made within 24hrs of scheduled flight time including no-shows will incur 100% of tour/flight charges.
HEALTH & SAFETY
All of our pilots hold a Commercial Pilot License and are regularly subjected to stringent performance checks under New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements. Our team has over 35 years of combined flying experience.
Before all flights, passengers are fully briefed on safety procedures before entering the aircraft.
During flights our pilots may, at their own discretion, change flight paths and landing locations due to safety and weather conditions. Passengers will always be kept fully informed of any changes.
Safety is always our main priority.
Our fleet are subjected to regular maintenance checks as safety is paramount. Our helicopters are maintained by Heli Maintenance in Christchurch and our aeroplanes are maintained by Sounds AeroMaintenance.
